HIGHLIGHTS: Sonoran Desert, Sedona (Brief Stop), Oak Creek Canyon, Grand Canyon National Park, San Francisco Peaks, Painted Desert Views
Experience Grand Canyon National Park by way of the Red Rocks of Sedona and scenic Oak Creek Canyon.
Depart early morning and see first-hand the Sonoran Desert on your way to Sedona, your first stop. Once in Sedona, your "official" Grand Canyon tour guides will join the group for the amazing journey to the national park. Once you depart Sedona, savor the diverse scenery as you go from desert to chaparral to tall Ponderosa Pine forests by way of Oak Creek Canyon.
After meeting our Flagstaff guests, we drive past the dormant volcanoes that make up the San Francisco Peaks, on our way to the Navajo Reservation. You'll view the western edge of the Painted Desert and drive along the Little Colorado River Gorge on your way to the Grand Canyon.
We then spend the late morning and early afternoon in the Grand Canyon National Park (entrance fees are included), and you'll get your first views of the Grand Canyon and Colorado River at Desert View. Climb up to the top of the Watchtower Observatory for magnificent panoramic views of the Grand Canyon. The Watchtower Observatory is one of the crowning achievements of architect Mary Jane Colter. Desert View Point is also a great place to have the lunch that you packed or pick something up to eat at the general store. As we make our way along the rim of the Grand Canyon, we'll make a stop at Grandview Point. This transitional point between the East and South Rims of the Grand Canyon offers both the open views of the Colorado River Gorge afforded at the East Rim, as well as the butte-filled views for which the South Rim is famous.
At the Grand Canyon Village, you'll have time shop at the many historic buildings and museums, such as the Hopi House, the rustic El Tovar Lodge, the Grand Canyon Railway Station and Kolb Studio. You may also take in some wondrous views of the Grand Canyon looking down onto the Bright Angel trail and Indian Gardens. You may even get a glimpse of the mules heading out of the Grand Canyon or the incredible California Condors!
Throughout your journey with us, you'll enjoy interesting, informative, and entertaining narration from your guide. Our most popular way to take our guests to experience the Grand Canyon.
